Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a journalist. Writing copy as part of the newspaper and yearbooks staff in high school was effective, but the photo was what would grab readers to want to read the article. I felt that when we look back at history, as a people, that photos were always relevant. It is far easier to share history through photos then it is through the written word. I worked with my yearbook advisor (teacher) whose background was in photography, to understand not just photography, but how to utilize the cameras we had. Beyond the feedback she provided, I read many books on photography, and practiced using different subjects, angles, and lighting. I continued working on photography at Stephen F. Austin State University and in 2014, decided to become a professional photographer. My work has since been published with 94.5 The Buzz and Houston Press on their respective websites.
